[BBC]Sony scores against PlayStation 3 hacker - Page 6

Hide a computer in the computer that has a powerful wireless card and is set to auto-connect to any available network and spread a bazillion viruses around Sony HQ.

I really don't see the point of using a program that will take hours to wipe a drive, use a degausing tool. You know when a tv gets colors from a magnet, it wipes everything magnetic. A few passes of that and everything is jumbled like it got hit with a blender. Plus heres something that would really piss them off, put on 2tb of porn. They would have to watch every single second of it looking for data that would be related to the crime.

Methodically wiping the drive is a better option. Sure a powerful magnetic field will garble the drive and make it virtually useless but there is no guarantee that 100% of the data will be lost.

I have old 12 inch subwoofers laying around with huge 10lb (or more) magnets that could easily be used to wipe a drive yet I'd rather just use the software.

Judge must be a complete moron when it comes to technology.

1) Unbiased third party needed. Simply giving your system to Sony, they can make whatever statement they want while fabricating proof.

2) 10 days? So much can change in that timeframe..

3) Breaking news: Hotz acquires new computer. Restores data from offsite backups.

FAIL society is FAIL.

Just google free file recovery software. There are many options. A couple years ago I reformatted a drive and then realized there was a whole bunch of music on the drive I forgot to transfer. I was able to recover 100% of it. Can't remember the name of the program but I know there are many that can do it.

If you did a quick format you can still recover data. If you did the full format (takes a few minutes) then you probably cannot recover the data because it writes over the entire drive.

The default option is usually the quick format.

FAIL society is FAIL.
He should make disc images of all his discs under the supervision of some sort of IT company that has given professional testimony in court before. That way he could have professional testimony on his side saying they are legitimate copies of his drives. He could then have proof that Sony fabricated something.

Personally I don't identify with either right or left wing ideologies. I have views that put me in either camp depending on the issue. I find it annoying (scary) when people can summarize their political views as right wing or left wing. In my opinion that means the person is rather shallow and unable to form their own opinions.
