I just got my asus 120hz today. My clocks won't idle till I switch to 100hz. Haven't tried many games yet but I did notice in crysis at fullscreen 1080 the game defaults to 50hz so I set it to windowed and get my 120hz back. Also benched batman AA and it was smooth as butter. I'll be messing around with it tonight see if I get any tearing like your experiencing.
Yeah, I noticed tearing with Crysis and Warhead also, and it sucks...

As for the nvidia drivers being flawless - they were. frown.gif I had no problems with 260.xx drivers and GTX260, everything was smooth at 120Hz. There was no need to lower the refresh rate for the card to idle.

Tried Dead Space 2 also, 120Hz without any problems...

I never trust anything that does so automatically.

As above, I found crysis will not run at 120hz with the default setup. Same goes for Warhead. I run the game at 1600x900 windowed. There is a way to trick crysis to run fullscreen at 120hz, and that is to create a custom resolution identical to your maximim at 120hz. I have no idea why this works, but it does. The downside being you can no longer run at 110hz. Remember also that to delete/disable custom resolutions you need to follow an annoying procedure:
1. Switch to lower resolution that standard
2. close nvidia control panel
3. click custom resolutions and delete
4. close nvidia control panel
5. switch back to max resolution

and people say nVidia drivers are flawless
as a crysis enthusiast I want to tell you that no matter how high your refresh rate is compared to your fps, you will ALWAYS get screen tearing if you leave vsync off, therefore turn it on.
I have the same problem with crysis full screen only using double buffer resulting in like 30 fps and sudden spikes to 60 and horrible choppy gameplay.
to fix this, load your game (as in when you go past the menu and go to the actual game when it starts rendering graphics) press Alt+Enter several times to go to windowed mode (there should be the aero interface around the crysis window) then press Alt+Enter again as many time as needed to go back to full screen. this way, vsync will work with triple buffering and you'll get desired smoothness and fps.
gl. that always work for me. go to windowed then back to full screen.
