ASUS M4A79XTD EVO Not Detecting My Creative Sound Card!

Hello everyone, it's been awhile. Havn't been on this forum in ages. Anyways after what's been going on today I'm getting desperate for help. I've looked across google, and forums since last night with no luck. Here is the problem:

The Setup:

ASUS M4A79XTD EVO
750W PSU
AMD Phenom II X6 1090T
4GB 1600 RAM
Radeon HD 6870
Creative Xtreme Gamer FAtal1ty Pro SOUND CARD Installed on PCI 1x Slot 1

Ok, this is a new rig. I just finished installing it last night, and checked, and double checked everything before installing a fresh copy of Windows Ultimate.

The problem is Windows 7 is not recognizing my sound card. If I try to install the latest, or even some aged drivers, my screen freezes, can't move my mouse, nothing.

When I load up safe mode, Windows 7 then can see my sound card, and it's name and everything, but of course the sound service is disabled.

I have tried moving the Sound card up to PCI slot 1 and it worked just fine. Problem is I'm going to be running CrossFire, so the sound card MUST be on the PCI slot 2, which has been giving me hell.

So. What the heck is going on? I can not for the life of me get this sound card installed properly. I really can't do without this card, because the sound quality, blows away the onboard sound by a long shot! If anyone could please help me I would appreciate it soooooo much!

Thanks.

I dont know that board but at a guess you may need to check your Bios settings with regard to your PCI e settings, and now for the bad news, if you are going to cross fire that board only supports 8X in cross fire not the full 16x.
With that board get the best single card you can.

It looks a good board, but the PCI e is limited.

Anyone else know this Board ?

I think the crossfire mobo's do indeed come with 2x 16x slots, but when you hook up crossfire it slows down to 8x8x. That's what it said in the spec's on newegg.

I'm trying to troubleshoot the best I can here though. Reformatted Windows 7 Ultimate 3 times now, and installed all windows updates, then tried installing the creative sound card drivers, and my screen freezes every time as the drivers are either being installed or looked at.

Safe Mode is immune to the freeze.

Which means whenever my computer is handling the driver files, it causes the system to freeze. Now as for the culprit, that is the biggest mystery. >.<
