Getting the kindle 3 in Canada is as simple as going on the website and ordering it. Buying books for it in Canada is as simple as...buying books from amazon.com.

Also you are wrong in thinking that the kindle requires you to pay for any kind of cell plan, thats just plain ignorant and untrue. Actually the 3G version gives you free 3G access that actually does work in many areas of Canada and is 100% free.

Pretty much what happens is people like you try an e-reader for the first time and instantly change their mind. That and e-readers are an excellent way of getting non-book worms back into reading.

I'm getting more an more interested in getting a Kindle but I do have a question. Lets say I'm in an area that doesn't have a wi-fi hotspot (kinda live out of town), can I download a book via USB from my computer or do I need to drive into town to download? This of course is only for the non 3G version.

Ya you can download and drop or sync via usb. But why would you have to drive into town, you don't have wifi at home? I thought that was a basic feature on routers these days.

(And you can't get the Thrawn Trilogy on Kindle, so as far as I'm concerned, screw it. )
Yea, and I can get the book from the library for free.

You are talking about the Nook. If you go to www.amazon.ca, it shows (and has shown for the past year or more) that Kindle ships to Canada. It's super easy really, they even ship via DHL who gives it to Canada post so you dont even have to stay home to receive it but can pick it up at your local post office.
