MSI GTX460 in exchange of XFX HD5770 - Page 2

Your 450W will handle the 460 just fine in case it is a real power 450W PSU. nVidia and AMD are always exaggerating when it comes to PSU requirements and they are stating the theoretical maximum with a configuration of catastrophic proportions which is ready to blow the world.

Just go get it and do not think twice. MSI is just like any other brand, has good and bad things coming out of the production line and it all comes to luck. AT least you are sure that the card works which is not always the case with a new purchase.

Just follow your dreams. It is a lot more interesting way of living your life, isn't it?

you'll be cutting it close with the PSU. the recommended PSU is 500w, but that's with a core i7 965. AMD cpu are less power hungry. so as long as you DO NOT OVERCLOCK anything, you should be ok.

(although i see u got a good cooler and a BE cpu and telling u not to overclock is like ridiculous haha)

EDIT: nevermind i just looked up the specs and the 955 BE consumes 125watt compare to the 130 watt of the i7. 5 watt difference for a huge performance difference. nvm about amd being less power hungry. pass up on the card until u get a better PSU.

It will work jus fine

The VX450 @ full load would draw ~562w from the wall

Stop it with the you need 650w to run a single gtx460

Lolz .......... the world is sooooo confusing

Anyway, let me ask you guys something else. If I purchase this card, would it be safe to use a molex-six pin converter for one of the six-pin slots on the card (VX450 comes with only 1 6pin power cable).

I don't think anyone ever said that...

AFAIK there's no reason using molex converters shouldn't work. Though I've heard it's not really recommended for long term.
