Connection keeps momentarily dropping

Thread Starter
Forgive me if I posted this in the wrong place...

In any case, my connection keeps dropping sporadically. I've noticed that the ethernet light on my modem keeps turning off for a few seconds. Here's a screenshot of a ping test.

I'm considering buying a new modem but if any of you have other advice, I'd appreciate it.

A ping to the router might be more reliable for diagnosing the local link..

Could always try another port or another cable.
Also, manually negotiate your speed on the NIC to rule out autonegotiation problems.

my mistake, I meant to say that the light is on my modem. My router is working fine, but my modem only has one ethernet port.

Ah, sorry, confused since in the OP it was stated you were looking at buying another router.

You could always call your ISP and complain for either a diagnosis and/or replacement..

I think you were on the right track beers. Basenne try another cable, sounds like that maybe where the CRC errors are coming from. Your ISP will probably first claim it's on your end first so best to eliminate your side for troubleshooting.

Well the modem completely quit (powered off, wouldn't turn on) and I didn't want to wait for AT&T to send out a replacement so I just bought a new one. Fixed the problem. Anyway, thanks guys.
