What PSU for 6850 CF?

Thread Starter
I'm planning on gettin an i7 2600K and running 6850 Crossfired. Not sure how strong of a PSU I really need. As of right now I'm guessing 750w should be good. I've been lookin at this Corsair one. But I was wondering if I could save a few bucks and get this Antec one. I don't really care too much about Modular or having it look nice. I just want something that'll do the job, reliable, and cheap.

Thanks.
Alice

750W is way overkill, you'd be very comfortable on a good 650W.

An Antec Neo ECO 520 will do it fine.

Yeah that'd be fine. The two 6850s are going to be drawing ~200W on a normal gaming load, about 240W under Furmark. The Neo Eco 520 can supply 480W of 12V power, so you've got plenty of room for the rest of your stuff.

Yes, easily. 6850's only consume a little more power than 5770's.

6850s don't pull near that much. 240W under Furmark is like a GTX570. 6850s are more in the class of the 5770 and 4850, 90-130W maybe.

He meant both of the 6850's combined.

That's interesting, why do all those stupid PSU calculators say I need so much. Trying to take my money! Haha.

Just ignore PSU calculators, they grossly overrate the amount of watts you need.
