GPU change for future eyefinity?

Hey guys I was wondering if I should sell my 5850 and get a 2gb 6950 if I go eyefinity in the future. Probably wouldn't be til may (graduation) though. Higher res = more mem comes in handy correct?

Your 5850 would do just fine with eyefinity. But the 6950 would do even better. So if you are worried about losing too much FPS then the 6950 would be good.

and yes, more memory helps with higher res. Your 5850 should do just fine with 3 monitors to be honest, I would say get eyefinity first and then decide if you want to get a new card.

Fair enough, I will need an active displayport adaptor to run this correct?

yes, this would work.

if you want to go over 1920x1080 then you need one of the more expensive ones.

will probably stay at 1920x1080. How do you think three of these would work? (I have one already and like it as a single, dont think it's worth it to buy the ultra thin bezels for $150 more...)

It's all about frame buffer with higher resolutions. I went from a 5970 to twin 6950s [unlocked of course] just for the added gigabyte. So far plays everything super smooth! Then again, I didn't get to try eyefinity with my 5970.
