Help getting the most of my overclocked Sempron 145!

Thread Starter
I have a Sempron 145 succesfully unlocked to Athlon II X2 4450e.
And I OC'ed the CPU with stock vcore to 3500Mhz on stock cooling.
It has run very stable for the last one months, 24/7.
My case is equipped with side panel intake and rear exhaust fans.

My setup:
CPU: AMD Sempron 145 (2.8Ghz) unlocked to Athlon II X2 4450e (@3.5Ghz)
MB: Biostar TA790GXE 128M
RAM: 2x2GB DDR2 PC-6400 (5-5-5-15) with chip from Samsung
VGA: Biostar GeForce GT 240 1GB DDR5

The only things I adjusted in the BIOS was:
ACC: "All cores"
CPU Frequency: "250 Mhz" (default "200Mhz")
HT "1.6"
Green Power Utility/Cool 'n' Quiet: "Disabled"
"Something" set to "16bit" (I forgot the designation, have to restart the PC first)

I won't push the OC further at this time, and I will stay on stock cooling and stock vcore for the time being. I'll probably get the CM Hyper TX3 in around 2 weeks, so by that time I'll probably ask another question on max OC of this chip

My question is, how should I further adjust the BIOS settings to get the most optimized overclock? I'm talking about the NB frequency, HT, memory timings/clock, etc, which I haven't touched at all!

Don't get the TX3, get the hyper 212, the TX3 is a 92mm fan, and the hyper 212 is a 120mm fan.

I would say try to get yoru ram timings tightened up if they aren't already.

if you are looking to just get more overall out of your computer, getting a video card would be a great addition to your system.

I was thinking of the 212+, but I don't think it would fit in my case (a regular mid-tower). So, probably the TX3 is the best option, rite?

About RAM timings, I'm completely lost on this. Suggestions how "tight" should I go?

And, I do have a video card, its a Biostar GeForce GT 240 1GB DDR5.

How bout the HT link, NB freq, etc?

Carefully measure the distance between your motherboard and the side panel of your case.

If you can fit a 120mm fan in there with plenty of space to spare you should be able to fit the hyper 212. Make sure first, it is a much better cooler.

What is your budget. I would say get the GTS450.
The cooler is a total of 159mm tall. So you need at least 6.2inches of space between the surface of the cpu and the side panel.

I already bought a GT 240 for $90, its in my sig.
I couldn't fir a 120mm fan in my case, its very cramped.

What's your suggestion on HT Link, NB frequency, NB voltage, FSB, memory timings?

Thanks.

well with your ram, i doubt you can push it much futher, But I am not familiar with that ram brand.

But keep your HT speed a close to 2000mhz as you can, and NB freq you want it to be high, but not like too high. But having it overclocked some does help with performance. You can probably push a little more voltage then stock into your NB, but dont' push it more then like .2 volts higher then stock.

what is your clock speed and all that right now?

can you post a picture of Cpu-z with the main tab and the memory tab open.
use two applications side by side.

Now I'm running as dual-core @3500Mhz.
Well, the RAM is a somewhat generic brand, but it comes with a lifetime warranty and trade-in service (I can trade in my sticks with DDR4 in the future at market value).

Looks good elzafir.

Pretty sure there is more left in it. 1.4v might get you up to 3.8 or so. May need to drop your memory again to 266.

3.8 Ghz on stock cooling? Wow, neverthought that would be possible! I'll give it a try.

EDIT:
PROBLEM!
Now the system won't POST as a dual-core with the video card plugged in! I have to reset the CMOS, but then it would boot only as a single core.
-BUT THe system POST as dual core IF the graphic card is unplugged.

Any ideas? I tried to return to default settings, and re-enabled ACC, still can't get the system to boot with Video Card as dual core.
