Its a laptop charger, it puts out a single voltage, and it isn't like critical like a computer PSU is.

Like ripple doesn't really matter much with that.

So knowing TT messes up PSU's for computers, i doubt they can mess up a laptop charger.

He means a laptop power supply either works or it doesn't. To some people, asking if a power adapter is good is like asking if a light switch is good or bad. They both either work or they do not work. Good/bad doesn't really come into play.

With that said I stay away from TT. Call me crazy.

but if you have no battery in the laptop wouldn't it act as the psu

A laptop adapter is a power supply. Often based on a similar topology to an ATX PSU. And quality does matter, the same issues of reliability and performance come into play.

It's just we don't have many reviews of laptop adapters. Jonny Gerow has done one or two, but at this point in time you really have to fly blind.

Yea, but the laptop has its own set of hardware inside that regulates voltage.

And the adapter only has to put out a single voltage, so even though quality does matter, it doesn't matter near as much with at laptop charger.

I mean really when was the last time something died inside a laptop because of the charger not being quality?

nothing trying to argue, just discussing.

So does your motherboard, won't stop a Leadman from killing it.

That makes it somehwat easier to engineer in some respects. But these things have to be far more heat resistant, and the EE has to fit everything into a very, very small package. I'd say quality matters as much or more.

I can't confirm anything, but I've suspected it as the cause of hardware failure in several instances. Usually cheap third-party chargers bought off ebay.
