Card for BC2 at 1920x1200

Thread Starter
If I were to get a card today for my cousin, he plays BC2 at 1920x1200 which card would be better GTX560 or 6870?
They're both on par with eachother for that IMO. I'm a fanboy, so you know my answer...

He'll be happy regardless. I just prefer EVGA cards for their lifetime warranties.... yup

Honestly I hate ATI/AMD now cause of their poor driver support and quality. I'd pick nVidia. But I'd say get the 570 not the 560.

Going to have to agree with Kobalt. I'm a big EVGA fanboy. Plus I've not heard anything good about ATI/AMD drivers as of late so I'd suggest avoiding them for now.

Ive had no problems with ATI/AMD in fact i have another 5870 on its way so i can go crossfire, but i still pick the GTX560 the sli scaling seems really good if you want to look into that later down the road and it seems to be a great card for OCing as well

AMD drivers are excellent.

560 is supposed to compete vs 6950 1GB not 6870 in price. In this case 560 > 6870.

GTX 560 outperforms the HD 6870. HD 6950 1/2GB outperform GTX 560 for your price range. As far as driver support goes, AMD and Nvidia both have issues with drivers fact, another fact is most drivers issues are PEBKAC which make both camps drivers look worse than they truly are. Personally you won't go wrong with either or any card that I or anyone has listed.

Well its down to the MSI 560 Twin Frozr or the MSI 6870 Twin Frozr. I like the power numbers on the the 6870 better it seems more efficient in this area, runs cooler. But the GTX560 runs faster, looks like about 5-10% faster. Its a tough choice. I do like how ATI has fan control built into their drivers, where as Nvidia you have to download a bunch of crap to control the fans. I could almost toss a coin and decide that way...
6870 is fine as long as you don't have driver problem.

For each of their own, I really hate AMD/ATI's driver and I have a 5870 for 12 months and they never fixed the tearing/blanking/flashing. Other than the driver, I love the reference 5870, great oc and a very powerful card for the past 10 months.

However, nVidia's driver team is far more superior. I have little problem to no problem with games even I'm rocking a potentially problematic SLI + Surround vision config.
