Thread Starter
Odd issue, whenever I put my HDMI cable into my monitor it won't display anything confused.gif DVI and VGA work perfectly fine. I tried the cable on our tv with my XBOX and it worked fine. So yeah, how do I fix this?

NOTE: This is with my sig rig monitor Asus VE246H

So, you have selected HDMI as input source in the monitor but it continues to show ''HDMI No Signal'' on screen (flashing?) after you turn on your PC?

I can think of, at least, 2 possible causes:
a. ATI Driver: Uninstall CCC and do a Driver Sweeper in Safe Mode. Reinstall the latest driver package 11.1. With the monitor connected via HDMI and turned on, Reboot. If this does not work, try a couple more older drivers. During this process, make sure the default frequency is matched correctly (59/60Hz) between the monitor spec and that in the CCC.

b. Cable: Sometimes, a cable just does not get along well with a card/monitor. So, if you have others, try a few more. Try HDMI 1.3b first of all.
(You can use Google Translate to follow this Chinese thread about VE246H getting picky with the HDMI cable. The problem was finally resolved after trying a few more cables. http://www.mobile01.com/topicdetail.php?f=350&t=1442223&p=1)

there is no such thing as a cable that supports one HDMI spec over another.

1.1 is the same as a 1.4 cable. It is like an ethernet cable, there is absolutely no difference between one or another as far as wiring goes.

I'll try reinstalling drivers but that doesn't explain why the xbox won't work with it. All I get is a black screen.

If you have tried both my suggestions above and it still does not work, try this:
c. Reinitialize HDMI: With your computer still turned on and still connected via HDMI to the monitor, turn off the monitor. Remove the power cord to the monitor. Press down the power button of the monitor for 10-15 seconds (or wait for 1 minute to see if you hear a beep. Some monitors have such an audio feature built-in while some have not). Reconnect power cord to monitor. Turn the monitor. This should reinitialize the HDMI mode.

Welcome to the world of ATI driver issues.

I've had problems with Radeons and HDMI since my HD 3850, so thats at least 3.5 years, and in typical AMD fashion they just ignore the issues.

I will try this. Thanks for all your input. It's been quite positive.

Dude where did I say I had an issue with my drivers? I've never had issues with my drivers. Does no one understand that my xbox does not work with the monitor too? How does my xbox not working with the monitor have anything to do with ATI drivers?
