I want an upgrade to be noticeable and meaningful. 1366 to Sandy Bridge is not enough, especially since I plan on getting an AMD system when BD comes out, so from a geek perspective I will have enough on my plate for a loooong time once the Bulldozer architechure is out.

Then we will know Intel's next move, and if the 6-cores have gone down in price and I am running one of those in my 1366 (which I will) I will see if the 1366 is in fact abandoned as a socket, and Ivy Bridge will be out so the enthusiasts will have some more red meat from Intel.

I think Intel's Sandy Bridge is just an opening move, AMD's response has to be better than a Sandy Bridge CPU or it's AMD fail.

+1 and it's exactly what I'm saying above - SB won't give me a noticeable performance gain like a 6-8 core IB processor will.

On paper, BD looks pretty sick, and for our sake, it better be, I may be building a Bulldozer rig too, depending on how well it delivers what they claim on paper.

I never even made any claims, put your results up - that is what this is about. Do 4.4Ghz with HT off and show us how little the difference really is.
Heck, I'd be happy with 4.20 GHz ..

Can you please move the non gaming related discussion to another thread (x6 x8 do nothing for gaming), no OT here please we'd like to see some factual results instead of more opinions for a change.

The 1090T is still faster than the i7-950 in many multi-threaded apps and is priced much better without the need to upgrade to DDR3. It still has it's perks.

I don't lie, so if speaking the truth is trolling count me guilty. It's amazing how speaking the truth gets you called names like fanboy and troll around here. The AMD people say the same thing now that you're saying and were saying back then.

I never even made any claims, put your results up - that is what this is about. Do 4.4Ghz with HT off and show us how little the difference really is.

This forum is about hardware, benchmarks, and overclocking. If you feel you need to tuck your epeen away and create a fruit bowl over someone trying to get some legitimate results posted then go ahead.
since when is stating the truth hating? If you read my post above, and everything I have ever said about SB, I am far from an SB user hater, in fact, I made a huge thread helping people when SB came out, you do remember that thread don't you?

Also, I based my trolling statement for you because that's what you referred yourself as:

I however have become more of a gamer/troller than anything else and with the i5 2500k being right at about the same price as my 1090T was, and my broken ddr2 board forcing me to go ddr3 with the GA-P67A-UD4 costing about the same as an equal board on the AMD side it seemed logical to go for a chip that beats even the best 4 core 1366... I mean I can still troll those people about how much better my performance is for less right?

Also DDR3 1600 cas 9 for $110, am I missing something cause those seem like they suck...
Just in case you decide to edit your post, here's a screenshot.

You were an AMD troll and Intel hater before, now you're a 2500k user trolling 9xx users, when BD comes out, and you switch to that, if it does turn out to be faster than SB, than you will troll SB users, and so on.

This is why my analogy DID make sense, you just don't want to see it. If you want to find out of which two cars are faster, than you want the same limitations. Same tires, similar drive train, similar motor size and of course same max speed limitation.

This is the same for CPU comparisons. Use the same memory, video card, Hard Drive and if possible, even the same motherboard.

Why not make it 3.8GHz since most non D0 chips can't even do 4GHz?
This is your thread, not mine.

It doesn't seem so well known, tbh.
How can it not be well known? Every legitimate review I've read, came to the same conclusion that i2X00K SB platform is slightly faster than i7 9X0 platform.

But really, You don't need to start a thread like this every week to show off your i2500K. It's well known that i2X00K is faster clock per clock than an i7 9X0 already on nearly all benches.

We get it, i7-9xx can't go past 4.2 on air like SB can.

We do remember the platform you are coming from Mr. (former) AMD troll, and we told you NUMEROUS times that i7-9xx was BETTER than AMD's offerings, now you're experiencing the reasons why, just be happy, and quit trolling 9xx users.

You fall into the same category of people who are so dependent on their epeen status, that you need to tell everyone that your chip is faster now.

Before you upgraded to SB I do remember you saying something along the lines of....

"If I get SB, then I can troll the 9xx users"
^this

so you went from an inferior amd set-up to the newest and fastest and you can't control yourself.

The whole 1155 v 1366 debate is pointless, we all know that SB is superior in many ways (not all) and this is a preview of what the next enthusiast socket will be like.

So if we were to decide which was faster, a Ferrari or a Ford Pinto - according to you the Ferrari would need to be reduced to the Pinto's speed in order for it to be a fair comparison of which is faster.

The "inferior" AMD setup only neted a few fps difference in single and dual threaded testing.

This is the part I love... Are you ready?

My 1090T: notice the gpu score.

My i5-2500k:

You sit there and bash the AMD camp because of a few points and frames, but act like the SB chip doesn't put you in the same spot the AMD chips were compared to the i7-9x0 chips.

You know what that makes you right? Starts with H and ends with e.

People stopped using the thread, and moved on to other threads.

I still have it in my sig, and really, you think I went through all that effort to get Rep?

What can I buy with Rep points? lol

I did that thread to help people, and in the process became educated with SB, it was win-win.

I only called you a troll, because that's what you called yourself!

Now, you're doing exactly what you said you were going to do as shown in your quote above, and I'm just pointing that out so people don't take you seriously.

You thrive on telling people how much better your CPU or rig is, and cry when it doesn't perform as well as you expect it to. You do remember when I and many others helped you figure out why your 1090T wasn't performing so well, but during those times before you knew the problem, you were ready to cry, and take a hammer to that rig.
