I know it doesn't take you to the right post, BTW. Anyways, with Sandybridge and any other i7, there is this thing called hyperthreading. And with any good rendering and editing program I've used, it supports hyperthreading. This hyperthreading may sound too good to be true, but trust me, it's been perfected. It takes your average quad core, and DOUBLE the amount of threads. This means that you have 4 cores, but 8 threads. These threads operate at about 75% the normal i7 core. So, you have 8 threads, but they don't perform as good as 8 cores would. They perform at about 6 cores. Which is why 3 years ago when the i7-920 came out, they were boss. Nowadays, we have sandybridge. Not only is it on the same terms as the 4core/8thread, but, this can overclock. The old i7's could overclock, but sandybridge can OVERCLOCK. Like BAM. Anyways, all of this makes Intel superior to amd.
Did you like my subliminal message at the end? I capitalized Intel, used a strong adjective, and kept amd in lowercase.

If you are taking this post serious, please do the world a favor and take yourself out of the gene pool.

I think the 1090T is faster at encoding than the i7-920, but it's slower than the i7-2600k and the 980x, so Intel still wins.

if your usage is 100% even a simple program will slow the process considerably, leave it alone till its done. You can run any program you want it will just run incredibly slow and increase the time for the conversion, maybe even crash the process so you have to start again. Go for a walk, cook something you never did before, read a book or go buy a new processor and feed your addiction for better performance MWHAHAAHA.

Well I am folding in the background right now while doing other stuff, but I guess that is because the priority on the core is set to low.

980x is $1000.00, so yeah, obviously it's gonna win. But you know what? That 4 CPU server board with quad channel RAM support and support for 48 AMD Opteron cores all running at 2.4GHZ? That beats a 980x.

2600K wise, I *think* the 1090T might beat it, because HT only adds 20% more performance and 2600Ks usually clock to around 4.5GHZ and a 1090T with a little work can get to 4.1, 4.2GHZ. Someone with a 2600k, please render a video, list your clock speeds, and send me the same video and we will see who wins. Please keep RAM at 1600MHZ 9-9-9-24 or lower speed. Keep your CPU at 3.2GHZ.

Wait, why does Intel have to downclock? Doesn't seem fair...

I would do a comparison at 4GHZ but I don't have the screws for my CPU cooler, so no OC'ing for me. The RAM speeds and latency have to be the same so we don't add RAM into the mix, just CPUs.

Thats amazing.

My i5-2500k absolutely destroys your 1090T, even in multi-threaded apps and encoding. So it's without question the i7-2600k is going to beat it if the i5 does.

My i5-2500k runs at 5GHz, and my ram is doing 2140 @ 8-10-9-24 1T. Why should I have to downclock it because the IMC on AMD chips is inferior in every way?
