£80-£130 graphics card recommendation

Thread Starter
I am buying a new PC system for £300, the specs seem pretty decent for gaming, except it comes with no graphics card.

I plan on changing the PSU to supply power for larger cards. After selling a lot of the things I own, i can gather around £80-£130

I need a graphics card that can handle gaming to a satisfactory level, play blurays and has to have a HDMI port. About 1gb of memory would be nice, and couldn't care less whether it is ATI or Nvidia

Any recomendations?

A GTX 460 would be ideal, you can probably find a 1GB version for £130ish.

£143.99 is the cheapest I have seen. I would recommend stretching the budget to accommodate it though, well worth the investment.

There's a couple on Scan for £132 and a few more under £140.

You can run HD resolutions through DVI as well. DVI doesn't carry sound so you will need a dedicated sound card/onboard sound on the motherboard. Were as running it through HDMI will enable you to run video and sound via the GPU. It really doesn't make a shade of difference though, they are both digital signals.

Does your monitor only have HDMI? Or does it have DVI/RGB too?

How often do you upgrade? I would recommend the above GTX460 if you don't upgrade much, it will last you a long time and will come with a 3 year warranty plus it satisfies all of your requirements.

At that res a GT450 or even a 5770 will max any games and will combing at the lower end of your budget. A GTX460 however would be overkill and last you a long time.
