Furthermore, originally all I would have to do is turn off EIST/C1E and the cpu would not throttle...however now (even before the bios update), it will still throttle unless I turn off c3/c6. I heard that OCing is more stable with speed step on, but have also heard that his is a prob. only with ASUS boards. I'd like to run the cpu at a constant speed without fluctuating multiplier/voltages. Any help would be great.
You need to be running the latest beta bios...

I'm going to try and see if by enabling EIST, C1E, C3 and C6 would get mine running more stable at 5Ghz with lower vcore. Right now it has to be at least 1.50 to run stable. My wish is 1.45v or lower for 5Ghz.

To the poster who said my vcore was too high for 4.6, he's absolutely right. This chip, however, refuses to play nice C-States/Eist - enabled/disabled at low vcores. I'm thinking of returning it as it's bsod'd on me at stock settings with the WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR (124) bsod. I am running the latest bios, btw: 1204.

Guess you can "disable" it, but even with it disabled CPU-Z 1.56.3 is reporting its still downclocking.

If you disable all the c-states and eist, then no, it will not downclock. Leave any one of them up? Yes, it will.

Currently running c-states/eist disabled; 4.5ghz, 1.4v. Seems stable...but this is much too much vcore for such a moderate overclock (relative to other 2500/2600ks).

Idk why I read this whole thing because my first post is all you needed to know. p8p67 boards are TURBO overclocks. They are meant to have cstats etc all turned on. In fact SB was designed to be TURBO overclocked. So why are you trying to run it non turbo overclocked?

Also 5.0ghz @ 1.5 is about right. check the threads and youll see for a 2500k thats about what it needs. 2600k can usually require a bit less.

you also need to edit your system in usercp so we can help u easier.

I don't like my cpu frequency fluctuating along with the vcore. I like it running constantly at one speed. Call it an OCD-like preference. I believe gigabyte, MSI, etc... can do strictly multi overclocks. ASUS was supposed to bring that up to par with some of their latest firmware, and they have to an extent. My cpu, however, feels more stable at higher speeds with c-states/eist enabled. I believe, after going through days of testing, that this one is just not a good overclocker. I'll add my specs in user cp right now.
