120hz make a difference? - Page 7

120hz hands down makes a massive difference for FPS if you have a rig to push the frames.

Games like WoW and SC2 I'd probably rather have an IPS, but they're just slower moving games.

Really depends what you play. The Asus, BenQ and Alienware are all top notch TN panels, especially when calibrated, but still are not as good quality as an IPS.

If you game, play FPS, and currently use a TN panel, you'd love a 120hz monitor.

If you use an IPS already, you'd probably be better off to stick with an IPS.

I know there's quite a few people who use a 120hz monitor for FPS and fast action games, and then an IPS for everything else. Best of both worlds.

You must be trolling. Have yo actually done that, compared them side by side ?
Do you play FPS games?

Massive difference!!! In racing games when you're making quick turns the apex just seems so clear and smooth...you feel like you can make more corrections with your wheel/controller and feel good about the lap knowing you're squeezing the most out of the lap. In motion games it's a stunning difference. FPS and Racing gamers will definitely notice the 120hz performance over 60hz...those types of gamers have a more acute sense of the motions being portrayed by the monitor.

If it's not for 3d uses, you'll probably only end up convincing yourself that there's a difference. The question is whether it's worth it to you to.
I wonder if the people touting the 120hz monitors have actually used a rig that maintains a steady 60FPS (minimum) before.

I'm skeptical of the "benefits" for sure.

Tri SLI GTX 480's on a Dell 3007 WFP HC V Sync enabled constant 60FPS maxed out on all games. There is a difference. I sold that rig and Im using a 9800GT at the moment and running rFactor at 120 fps and the difference is noticeable.

1: Thread necro

2: Misinformed people in this thread.

3: Yes. The difference between 60hz and 120hz is HUUUGE. But I would still rather take an IPS panel that only has 60hz.

I still sometimes play with my (free for me) CRT that can do 120hz. Why? Because it's bliss in FPS games. I haven't payed for it. I still like it. So don't say I only like it because I payed for it. Some games are AGONY with 60hz. Majority of games are fine tho.

Seems this thread has mixed feelings. I'm actually deciding to either get an IPS panel or a 120hz monitor. I wonder if best buy has any monitors for me to compare.
