Athlon II X2 Safe Temps

Thread Starter
Now I really hate asking noob questions in the main forum but i checked in the actually X2 section club and couldn't find anything so Im forced to ask here. To further my knowledge I decided to try and over clock my CPU. I followed the guide and gradually increased my FSB by 10 got it from 200 to 215 safely (x16 multi) ran prime95 and PC crashed. I find it a bit weird considering thats a mild over clock and most guides I have read simply adjusted the FSB and got the card up to 3.8Ghz no problem. What am I doing wrong ?

According the HW Monitor after a stress test of about 15 mins my temps were
Core 1 max: 70C(158F)
Core 2 max: 71C(158F)
Just a bit concerned because I recently purchased a after market heat sink and fan 9 (in sig)

Temperatures are too high, you need to keep them under 62c
Post your cpu-z screenshot here so we can help you

Thats wierd I thought this heat sink fan was good it was suggested by a OCN member ?
EDIT**
Just noticed the multiplier says X4 but its X14 I thought it was voltage issues so I went ahead and bumped everything up by 1 this time around..and dropped the RAM speed from 1333 to 1066

If you want to make it so the multiplier stays the same, disable Cool and Quiet in the bios. You should also disable C1E or CxE whatever it's listed as because it's like dynamic voltage states.

Is this the Athlon II 260u? Go to the bios and tell us what the temps and voltage are there (after you disable cool and quiet).Hardware monitor often shows inc. data. You should be idling in bios around 32c,or lower if it is the low voltage edition.
