I7 920 OC, and memory

Thread Starter
Hello everyone,
I have my 920 some time now, and never before i OC a single component on my pc, so i used a simple guide to OC my cpu.
So, what i actually did was to get my BLK Frequency up to 190 (from 130), and thats when i realised that my ram needed to go down to 1520 instead of 1866. Is there anyway i can get my memory up to 1866, without changing my current BLK frequency?
Also, i have this setup for some days now, seems pretty stable (had 1 BSOD but i really believe it was the catalyst drivers, they seem to have their issues) but is there any software that can determine just how stable my system is?

thx in advance

Check this thread, the software you need is there and also how to use it. Watch your temps!

Excelent guide dear friend darren, tyvm

Got some questions though..
What i did was setting my BCLK to 200, with 21X multiplier, getting my cpu up to 4,2 ghz
My problem is my memory.. owning a 1866ghz ram, i can only get it up to 1600mhz with 8x multiplier. Also my qpi link speed is 7,2ghz, and i have no idea whats the margin for that.
So, could i get my BCLK up to 230, with 19X multiplier, so i can get my ram to 1840? Qpi would be 8.28 in that case. Is it gonna work out this way?

230 BCLK is prolly going to be out of reach, over 200 takes lots of volts for me. Memory speed isn't noticed at all outside of a benchmark, you could either run it with tighter timimngs at 1600 or move up to the next multi and run it with looser timings if you can get it stable, either would produce similar results. You should go to the UserCP and fill out you system specs, someone with the same board/ram may have more advice.

Once again, your information is valuable and appreciated Darren

Ok, so, lets say that i keep my memory on 1600, and try to tweak timers.
According to CPU-Z, my timing are 10-9-9-22
But, according to my mainboard, there are three channels, with separate timings on each, and they all seem to be 7-7-7-18 :S. I can't say i'm not confused. I've read which timing is which (like, the first 7 is CAS# latency etc..) and i can say that that's what my mobo appears :S Any thoughts?
