Anything else I need to tell you guys?

Oh and this is my first time OCing, and also, last night, I pressed "sleep" and it tried to put my computer to sleep (so I could go to bed) and then it turned itself on and off, then I unplugged it, when I turned my computer on today, it said "Overclocking Failed" and I never tried to OC my Processor last night...

A word of advice to a new member;

I would give it a full day or at least 12 hours for responses. It's a weekend and the end of the month so just give it time. thumb.gif

Someone will help! Just know that it is generally frowned upon to bump your own thread in less than 24 hours time.

As for starters, you can fill in your computer information that you can display in your signature (like I have) with as much details as you can gain which will help readers to help you. You may also want to edit your OP (original post) with more details as to what you know, what you don't and if you have other goals besides your Celeron at 2.6Ghz. smile.gif

you forgot which motherboard you have?

also, is your machine OEM? (dell, HP, compaq)

hi mounsteres

from your specs, i take it you have a generic motherboard.
if you download cpu-z and then tell us your motherboard model number.

i used to have an E3300 which is very similar to yours.
my e3300 had a fsb of 200, and a multiplier of 12.5 (200 x 12.5=2.5GHz)
your E3400 has a fsb of 200 and a multiplier of 13 (200 x 13 = 2.6GHz)

all i did was increase the fsb to 210.
reboot into windows.
download coretemp, realtemp, prime95 and intel burntest.
load up the 2 temp programs.
then load up prime95. and run the small tft(i think,) test,
run this for about 2 hrs (some will say 12 hrs, but 2 will do for now)
keep an eye on your temps. iirc the max temp is 70.C so never go above 65.c
if everything good, go back into bios and increase fsb again by 10mhz abd repeat test again.
keep doing this until windows will not boot, then either
go back 10 mhz and leave it at that. or increase the cpu voltage 1 notch.

eventually i got to a fsb of 250 which is 3.125GHz.
but there is a mod on here with a E3300 at 4.0GHz

this is a VERY simplistic guide, as there is more to consider such as ram timings, northbridge volts, fsb straps etc....

most generic mobo's have very limited overclocking options in the bios.
also if you can overclock on this pc, then get a better cpu cooler, this will help a lot.
i got a better cooler and my cpu temp dropped nearly 20.C from the stock cooler
also read this guide http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/497993-newbie-guide-overclocking-updated-core-2-a.html

edit. use cpu-z for
we need your ram spec. is it 800mhz or 667mhz and the name, eg. corsair, kingston, cricial etc...
mobo model.

also you should really have a proper psu (power supply unit) as well.
also has you case got a good air flow?
the main danger when overclocking, is that the temps get too high

His ram should be 800.

OP, have you ever tried getting in to bios? If, yes why are you sharing nearly a gig of ram with your igp? From that i guess you haven't. Take a picture of your bios and post it (Open bios with del, f1 etc. take picture and post).

Don't play the stupid guess game.

Download Cpu_z, take screenshot and post it here.

Plus we were not talking about your graphic card here. You are straying off the topic.
