Better sound quality will give you a much better advantage over a 7.1 system.

I have the AD-700's and the zalman mic-1, it is MUCH better than my friends 7.1 Trittons.

It's about 110ish dollars on amazon if you get the mic with the headphones.

I highly suggest it because.
Pros: Comfy, great sound quality, the mic is also very very nice, no static at all.

Cons: kinda big, may slip off head. Occasionally can get a bit warm.

Razer Megalodons are better than what you have.

And they are real quality too. 7.1's aren't really a gimimck, it's just not used very much atm. It works well in the 5.1 mode, extremely well.

The hub and the comfort is what makes this worth it. The ability to adjust everything on the fly via the plug in play hub is amazing. I can get on vent/skype or any VOIP and easily adjust my settings and don't have to adjust it via the programs settings

IMO G35 all the way. I understand you may want to get something different too. I know they came out with a wireless version of the G35, I would definitley think about getting that if I were in your shoes. Best of luck!

i didnt like the look of the ad-700 so i went w/ the jvc rx700 and a labtec boom mic. used industry velco to attach it to the side to give it a much cleaner look and i can remove it anytime i want.

http://www.hardforum.com/showpost.ph...&postcount=185

those are the rx900 but the look pretty much the same. my velcro work was much cleaner though lol.

Echo don't go for virtual surround sound. G35 is crap, they break easy too. Go for the AD700(or other high quality headphones) and Clip on mic

I've got the Sennheiser PC350 and PC161. I'm now using the G930s from Logitech.

Best fitting = PC161s. Really light on the head/ears. Can wear them for looong periods.
Best Audio = PC350. But not by much - they're all pretty close.
Most Bass = PC350.
Best Mic = G930. Asking others in vent how I sound, consistently ranks this better.
Convenience = G930 by a country mile.

All that being said - While I love Sennheiser as a brand, I'm staying with the G930. After going wireless, with a decent battery and sound - its tough to go back.

**caveat - I have a two year old that likes to rappel on anything with long wires, so i'm a little biased on headphones without them in order to save me $200 bucks every time he decides to play jump rope with my headset

Without a budget, you could easily be spending around $1500 or more on the headphones alone.
