Is my Power Supply dead? Update

Update

Before deciding to buy a new PSU I remembered I have a PSU tester which I used to test the PSU (don't know how reiable they are). Anyways it said the PSU was working... I decide to unplug everything and use a 400w corsair and just test the cpu/mobo ram (I forgot to take out the 5870 even though I disconnected it from the PSU). Anyways it did the same thing as before(powering on and shutting down within 1-2 secs), so I take out ram and did the same thing. After that I saw my VC still there so I take it out and the pc powers on fine!!!

I put everything back together, but this time I put a low profile video card because I was using a 400w psu. Everything powered on just fine so I put back the other PSU and the VC and now the PC is fine.

What's wrong? should I still buy a PSU, is my Mobo dying?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So I was very happy that I got my Phantom case 2 days ago and put my rig on it. But, yesterday night I was browsing this forum for a few and then turned off the computer. Then I noticed that the computer was flashing...
The computer was trying to power on and withing 1-2 secs it was powering off. It was doing it repeatediay and then I just unplugged the power cable and kept doing it like 4 more times.

I guess is my power supply that is causing this right? if so could you guys recommend me another power supply that takes 2 5870s or maybe 6950s if I end up upgrading.

Now I gotta sell even more things to buy a new PSU since I dont have much cash.

Ironically I was thinking about getting a new one all this week since it was the crappiest part of my build. I just hope it didnt turn any other part of my computer.

Will 650w power my sig rig + another 5870 or if I upgrade crossfire 6950s?

So far I've put my eyes on http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-001-_-Product because of the rebate, then again I'm kind of thinking getting Corsair, Antec, Seasonic as I've learn here those are better brands.

or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-011-_-Product and just use my CC

Even though I shouldn't have done it, I plugged it back again and does the same it powers on and withing 1-2 secs it powers off w/o me touching the power button.

I do not know that much about power supplies that's why I was looking at 850w since I'm going to be running my sig rig. I plan on adding all the fans to the phantom case, 1 more hdd and another video card and I thought 750w would be cutting it close. But i trust you guys more a 750w will save me a few bucks.

Nothing wrong with an 850W PSU. If you hit 50% load you will about hit the good efficiency of 80 Plus. I hit about 400W at load but a good 650W or 750W will be good for most people.

cutting it close? really? 750watts would power two of your systems.

650watts would power your sig rig with crossfire.
People seriously over estimate the usage of their systems.
