Low GPU usage in SC2 GTX 580

Every setting maxed
Vsync = on

Gpu usage hovers around 30% with my framerate in the 30's and dips into the 20's. This is on the last misssion with lots going on. I'm going to assume the obvious case, my cpu is holding me back?

I tryed setting the res lower (720 windowed) but i was getting the same fps with lower gpu usage.

core temp was reading cpu usage on the cores ranging from 30-90%

This is why:

http://www.techspot.com/review/305-starcraft2-performance/page13.html

Cliffs:
SC2 only really uses two cores
Loves cache (means it uses lots of memory bandwidth/latency, too)
Phenom II X4 @ 3.8GHz barely gets within an i5 750 at stock 2.66GHz.

EDIT: and yeah, "All In" is brutal on the CPU.

Blizzard coded sc2 with the intention of keeping their korean market happy. The thing about the korean market is they use mostly older machines, I can't relocate the article but i remember reading an article where they stated this and most of the machines they use are still early dual cores and very old gpu's. because of this they heavily coded it for cpu use, secondly they only dual threaded it. Its unfortunate for us, but it makes the game very possible to run on almost anything at least on a low setting.

Yup, I went from 20-30fps min using a phenom II x4 @ 3.6ghz to 40-60fps min for my 2500k @ 4.6ghz. Amazing difference.

If gpu usage is below 80-90% you are cpu bottlenecked, simple.
