Phry's 2600K Build, Ya?

Thread Starter
After much research and lurking, this is the setup I'm pretty set with. Let me know what you think.

i7 2600K
Sapphire Radeon HD 6850
ASRock P67 Extreme4
G.Skill Ripjaws X 2x4GB 1600 7-8-7-24
Antec Neo Eco 620w
NZXT Tempest Evo
CM Hyper 212+
ShinEtsu Thermal Paste

I'm thinkin that this setup should be ideal for what I need it for and it fits my budget. Was hoping it'd be cheaper, but I can't really do much about that. I'm also debating on getting an SSD, but I won't be getting this for maybe another month so I'm hoping the new SSDs come out soon so the price will drop on the older ones.

So let me know what you think, what can be improved, what I can save a few bucks on, etc.

Thanks a bunch!

whats the build will be used for ? if gaming only and some video editng on the side then i'd say 2500k is the way to save 100 bucks , also you gettng quiet an expensive ram kit , check this out your mobo+8GB 1600 Mhz ram 217$
so that combo and 2500k already gets you another 6850 for CF or a good SSD

Well, it's mostly for image and video editing, Adobe shiz. That's why I decided to go with the 2600K. And I got that Ram kit just cuz everyone says it's better than the patriots.

How do you like those ASRock mobo's? Assuming you've had one before. I'm thinking of picking up that Fatal1ty one.

If this is what you are using your new build for get a SSD, it will be worth it. You will be able to boot up and open all your big Adobe applications in seconds. I'm not sure when the new SSD's are supposed to be out but I'm sure well see a few new ones in a month or so. If not OCZ has pretty cheap 60-80gb sandforce drives and the C300 64gb drive is only $130 right now, not a bad price at all.

Just worried that having my OS and Adobe shiz might take up too much space.

Well the OS takes 5gb's (if you plan on installing 7) and the full adobe suite takes 25GB's at max, that leaves you 34GB's of free space. You should be fine.

hight speed ram is not needed for your photoshop needs just make sure its 8GB and not 1333 Mhz thats all .
imho buying a ram kit that worth more then ur mobo is just wrong unless you plan on serious overclocking and destroying benchmarks ...

I do want to overclock this setup to get the most out of it. But not super extreme though. Would just a 9-9-9-24 be good enough for that?
