Temps question. i72600k. decent?

Thread Starter
i just wanted to know if i put the thermal compound on correctly so im running prime 95. im not that comfortable with putting the thermal compound on. i did my best, and i went through a few guides.
so here are my current temps, its been running for about an hour and half now.

http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/4525/tempsx.png

for being at stock, are the temps decent? or should i redo the thermal compound?

hmm okay. but id like to overclock to about 4.4-4.5ghz. would i still be okay then? or would reapplying and re-seating the heatsink be better for overclocking that much?

Temperature looks fine, whats your room temperature?

How did you apply your thermal compound? did you use pea size in middle of cpu or straight line? either one of this works fine wouldn't worry about it resetting the heatsink that much.

Now bump it up 4.0ghz with manually set cpu to 1.75V check your temperature, let me know the result

Coretemp is reading my temps wrong. I'd use another program personally.

Yes, 1.75 is a _lot_ of voltage. Don't do that.
Bye Bye 775

LOL. Your lucky he didn't nuke his chip!
Here are some reference temps:
Idle temps @ ~27C

2600k@(GHz)----Temp Load(P95 Small FFT's)
3.80(1.232v) ------------53C
4.40(1.280v) ------------60C
4.70(1.350v) ------------69C

Cooling is Mugen 2.

I got about 58'C on the hottest core. But I dont like how I cant control the fan speed. In the BIOS I can set a temp where the fan will kick in which is set to 65'C but below that it sits at 37%. And that is at stock.
