Having owned 9800GTs (rebranded 8800) and now 460s, I see a lot of similarities in these cards. Excellent price/performance with legs to carry them for years down the line.

Until/unless nvidia releases a 550 I don't see 460s losing their place in the market anytime soon.

Also, the GF104 was the first chip to usher in the fermi revamps that made the 500 series possible. I think the 460 deserves at least an honorable mention.

Your point being? Other than your very informative post. I implied that it was not worthy of this "hall of fame". Your post, on the other hand, was pretty much pointless.

Forgive me if I misinterpreted your post

This is utterly annoying. I remember GTX 260 was the King of the world, I ended up buying GTS250 since the 260 was pretty expensive in my city.

Few months later, and holy jesus there's the 400 series, now 200 series sucks, and to make things worse, my GTS 250 died.

I went and looked for 460 but to my surprise it was 4x the price of my GTS 250, I waited a bit.

When I was able to pay for the 460, I found there are 470, & 480. Then I waited up a little bit and decided to go and buy 470, there were NOTHING in the shops.

Now few weeks later, I find there's the GTX 560 Ti which is like the 460 but better...

I'm frustrated.

The GTX 460 is around 150 dollars correct (if not more)? For that price, you get very solid temps, high overclock potential, amazing SLI scaling and drivers but the performance of only a GTX 285.
In general the GTX 460 outperforms the GTX 285, in some cases by a lot. As the drivers mature, the 460 is pulling away even more. To be fair, there are instances when the 285 beats the 460, but overall saying the performance is equal is not correct.

And the 460 is a DX11 capable.

the 460 is and always will be one of the greats...

i seriously considered 2 of these back when i when i was upgrading....

but i ended up with a 480 due to the fact i didn't know about the SLI Patch...

as far as Bang for Buck... you couldn't really do any better!!!

i still love my 2x480s that i have these days...

but it has taken alot of work and research to get them quiet and cool.....

my one and only complaint about the 460... was that fact that it only supported 2 way SLI...

which kind of limited it a bit....

For those of you who haven't owned a GTX 460, you wouldn't know why its worthy of being in a "Hall of Fame" for GPU's. Reminds me of the 8800GT days AND than some. I've owned every card from both red and green released in the past few years except the 570/580 and I have to say the GF104 hands down is the best bang for the buck GPU.

edit: if I had to pick an order of Hall of Fame gpu's it would be in this order: 8800GT, GTX260/4870, 5850, GTX 460
