Both Bose and Logitech are utter crap. Don't waste your money.

KRK Rokit 8's ($224.95 non factory sealed)

http://www.americanmusical.com/Item-...407FG0HAMS0000

+

Dayton SUB-100 subwoofer ($150)

http://store.audioholics.com/product.php/1973/0

It will destroy any Bose or Logitech setup. However there's little point of getting great gear with a bad source so what is your soundcard / source at the moment?

I use my mobo soundcard, btw I like to listen to a wide range of music from heavy metal to rap, but the main usage of the speaker would be for gaming

bump.
Also can you guys reflect on the logitech z5500, and is it any good or not, or I can accept a combo of sound card + speaker, or do you guys think that my current on board soundcard is ok, and I should spend all my money on speakers

I heard the z5500 was actually better than the others. I would go with what chinesekiwi says.

z5500 doesn't sound bad, per se, it's just a horrible value, you can do much better for the price.. a quality active 2.0 >>> z5500
