Carputer/htpc

Thread Starter
I am thinking about making a Carputer/htpc because I'm almost always on a long car trip and when i am not I'm at home watching movies.
here's the parts i picked out:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813176002 <-- dual core, ion 2 built in. dc 12 in (for easy powering in car)
http://www.mini-box.com/M350-univers...-itx-enclosure
http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/c609/ or
http://www.mini-box.com/VM7000-7-touchscreen
Edit: this is how i would power it http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/90f9/
i have a Hd, memory and Windows XP 32-bit and that is all i need (besides the car power). i wont be using a CD drive once XP is loaded so that is not needed.
the only problem i might have is hot air build up in the car.
any other suggestions? otherwise i will build when i can afford

honestly, do a laptop. save a big head ache. unless you wanna build in a htpc attached to built in tv's. which could be clever.

More than likely that motherboard will kill you car battery if you leave it for more than a day. Technically it would be constantly be plugged in and you would end up frying it from the spikes of voltage when cranking the engine over. Here is a good selection of "smart" car power supplies. An absolute must if you are serious about it. Another problem with that board is the lack of expandability. You will want dedicated sound and wifi cards and with that board there is no expanding. This would be great. There are also some mini itx i5 series boards on the egg that would be pretty cool!
