With a single 6970, he can get another someday instead of selling it and grabbing a 580.
Yeah but by that logic when he comes to getting another 6970, you'll be like "Nononono get a HD7xxxx instead"

Personally I'd go for the Dual 5850's, better performance and cheaper, might aswell take advantage of it now.
X 2! Forget the future, live for today. The 5850 CF will kill a 6970.

When the 5850 was new people said to get it instead of 2 4870's so you can add a second one in the future = upgrade. That is now.

in this case it's not, 6970 this is the deal.... new features and support that what important, it's not only about higher speed.... fallowing your logic we can still use highly "overclockable" Intel Celeron or Athon XP.... come on get real

Do not do Crossfire, I just recently added another 6850 to my other setup and believe me, its not worth it. So many issues, and games keep crashing. Stay away from doing Crossfire.

Never had a single issue with crossfire.

You can't claim your problems will affect everyone. Theres plenty of people out there who are more than happy with their crossfire setups.

I had a 5870/5850 in CF with no issues. Due to reviews I sold them and went 6870cf and it was horrible. So I would still recomend a 5850cf combo.
