I tried rooting mine and failed. I don't know what I did wrong but it's disappointing. Didn't know it could improve battery life though I'll have to try again.

If Verizon is at all in the books, check out the LG Revolution, HTC Thunderbolt and the Motorola Atrix. All 4G phones with dual core processors coming before may. They all look quite sexy. Plus im sure Verizon's 4G network will be quite vast by the end of this year.

so i suppose im going to have to read up a few walls of text to get this thing to its full potential ?

the wifi hotspot is a plus, but since i sold my asus g73 last month, not needed for my personal use

i use my phone without a cord for a max of 6 hrs, so if it has that in talk time, its fine with me also use bluetooth more then the phone itself as a call device.

and no, verizon is not in the topic at all, they dont offer military / gov discounts on any of the unlimited plans

custom kernels help the most here. if you dont want to use the battery script and set it up you can use SETCPU and setup different profiles to use when the screen is off, charging, and when in use. when my screen is off my cpu down clocks to 245min and 425max, and when i'm actually using my phone it clocks up to 1.10 ghz (just cuz i can), but there are soo many more options when you root and start trying out different roms.
i'm currently using:
Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo RLS5 with Ziggys 471 kernel

blackberry torch. You get all that (Not sure about skype tho, I believe it only works on some US carriers, check their website) and you get bbm

(actually all new blackberrys have that stuff, paired with unmatched email and work processing. Even my curve 8520 is great, don't touch my MP3 player anymore)

Get the evo for the screen or the epic for the physical keyboard. Both are great.

alright guys, im set on my new provider as AT&T has now ticketed me enough of my hard earned money in the last few month for a stupid little iphone.

my current bills of the last 3 month averaged between 149 to 165 dollars (one line per month)

sprint is going to be my new provider as their mobile to mobile (which i use most anyways) is 70 bucks a month -15% military / gov discount... 4 bucks for the international plan (7ct a min to europe/ 9ct to canada), no roaming charges according to the sprint representative and 10 bucks for the evo data plan...

long story short, i was thinking about picking up the sprint HTC Evo 4g, theres no 4g available in my area as of yet, prolly wont be for another year. should i go with this phone, or is there a better choice for my needs which are as follows:
i need:
- imap mail support
- skype / icq / aim / msn / yahoo im support
- would like TS3 support (not a requirement)
- facebook (i log in about every now and then, not constantly using it)
- media support for either avi / mpg and mp3/mp4
- either 16gb space or add-on micro sd / sd cards that can go pretty high
- easy to manage txt application built in, im not to savvy about it.
- decent camera to take some pics of some roadtrips as i never remember to bring my p&s cam

that should be it...

anyone got some info to pitch in ?
the swap will be a bit pricy since i got the iphone not too long ago, but i dont care, saves me money in the long run.

should end up somewhere in the 90 bucks ballpark (saving 60+ bucks on average per month / 720 bucks a year, itll be made up real quick)

I'm in the Air Force and i deffinitely had a military discount with my unlimited data plan on my BB Storm. You might wanna look into that better.

besides calling corporate or going to a store i cant really do much... even with a discount, verizon would be at least $20 over sprint's pricing with their plan lineup.

also, not talking unlimited data, im talking unlimited everything, all around...

One more thing about their whole lineup here,

sprint has a lot of roaming near my area, and they told me in the store that they would actually take minutes out of my anytime minutes if i was to call anywhere from a roaming zone... which is a big disappointment at this stage, should i bother switching, as it would prolly come up to somewhere close to my current bill if i hit some roaming calls, or should i still go for the switch and simply disable roaming ?
