6950 Unlocked Ram Timings Unstable

Thread Starter
As the title say's the one I got isn't stable at stock 6970 clocks. However it is stable at 880/1250 I don't know exactly how much I can get out of the memory clock. But I was honestly just wondering if any cards are unlocking PERFECTLY? From what I understand the 6950 and 6970 have different ram chips. Even though they can unlock additional shaders. That being said what do you guys think should I return my 6950 and try for a new one or maybe get a 570? (also keep in mind I got this OB for 235$ shipped.) Or should I just keep this 6950?

Thanks. Sorry for the wall of text.

Haven't had any artifacts or lockups from a straight up 6970 BIOS flash..

Try increasing voltage it might stabilize your memory. Majority of 6950 can do 900+ on core and 1375+ memory at 1.3v+

Okay, strangely enough........now that i updated from afterburner 2.0.0 to the beta, I'm completely stable at 6970 clocks at 1.1 voltage. Was afterburner 2.0.0 lowering my voltage or something. Also, I used the mod on TechPowerup the auto unlock batch file. Maybe this had something to do with it?

Powertune might be the culprit. Don't worry about it too much. Go to CCC set PC to +20% and overclock with AB. You should have a decent overclock.

There is a batch file on techpowerup that only unlocks the shaders on a 6950 BIOS and does not edit anything else but that, try that.
