Which of these two Titans is a better pick? They both have IPS and look great. Saw the Dell at MicroCenter and the Apple Cinema at an Apple store.

27" Apple Cinema Display
@ $999
27" Dell Ultrasharp @ $1099

Just looking to keep an eye out on one of these beauties to use for every day normal use, some gaming, design, photography, etc. I think they even sell the Apple Cinema Displays at Best Buy of which I have $300 to spend at. Not sure if either of these ever really go on sale. I try to be practical and not to go overboard with anything.

atm the dell ultrasharp is arguably the best monitor out for regular consumers. i reckon that it will own any apple rubbish screen. after all apple is just making money more than proving performance. dell all the way no doubt, everyone will definately agree with me. if you want looks or brand then by all means go wit the apple but dont regret it. performance and quality-wise, dell any day.

your welcome.

Dell for sure, not that I don't like the ACD, its just designed for Macbooks. Which means you cannot change the settings or brightness as you wish, there is also no power button on them, making it kinda useless for a PC desktop. The Dell one will also provide you with more flexibility in terms of adjustments.

I would just like to point out that I like to look at both sides of things. Thus, playing devil's advocate here I must mention that they are both IPS, same resolution, and the Apple seems brighter (white LED). I use an iMac at work as a web designer and our marketing department all use Macs. I think in today's day and age you could use either a Mac or PC for such a thing, but the Macs are more worry free and have less issues (mostly due to not being as targeted by viruses and a uniform experience across all Apple products). I am not bias either way as all my computers at home are PC's. However, I do feel the need to make sure the pros are pointed out for the Apple Cinema Display.

EDIT: Plus I don't know when a 27" Dell will be $700 any time soon as the $300 at Best Buy I have to spend will have to be spent towards something.

I'd much rather get the Dell. It's much more versatile than the ACD which only has 1 displayport if I recall correctly. Be patient on the 2711, Dell has deals all the time. At least once a month.

I agree. Take the Dell.

The Cinema screen is just needed if you have a Mac.

The Dell is the best 27" monitor you can buy. Wish I could afford one.
