how should I setup timings

Thread Starter
I know that AMD is HUGE on timings so help me out
Im pretty new to RAM so help me out here I have 2 sets of brands of ram..

one set is a PATRIOT 4gb x2 1333MHz and the other one is Corsair 2gb x2
XMS 1600MHz
because im running dual channel twice should it be in quad channel?!?! like I said im pretty new at this so help me out..

(edit: I have them set like this: 4gb-2gb-4gb-2gb..)
(edit #2: for some reason on CPU-z it says my timing is @ 6.6.6.15.21 in 1T
Im pretty sure it should be @ 2t 9.9.9.24.40 but it wont boot up)
(edit #3: also! for some reason after installing the corsair ram it won't allow me to overclock as high why is that?)

*what should I set my timings to?

*what should I set voltage to?

*what else am I missing haha?

(+Rep to the first few who can help)

You will not be able to overclock 4 sticks of RAM on an AMD Athlon IMC,not very much anyways. If you just game use the fastest set.If you do video editing/rendering etc. use the full amount, pair the same sticks together and run default speeds and timings.I believe your mobo specifies you use slots 0 and 1 together-then 2 and 3.

You'll have to run at the speed/timings/voltage of the slowest kit. Additionally, due to the C2 revision processor, you will have to run them at 1333Mhz anyway for 4 DIMMs. The highest a C2 has been able to do with 4 DIMMs is 1450Mhz.

Swap your RAM so it is 4GB-4GB-2GB-2GB. That'll launch you into the proper dual channel modes which perform much better. Dual channel @ lower RAM speed (and lower timings to compensate) will perform better than single channel with the higher speed.

Yes, get rid of 2 sticks. I'd keep the 2X4GB and OC them to 1600 or as close as you can get @8-8-8-24. If they won't post loosen them to 9-9-9-24.
And no, it's always dual channel, doesn't matter how many sticks you have.
Remember more isn't always better. 8GB is plenty/to much. But that's not your problem, it's running 4 sticks, not the amount of GB.

Wow, tighter timings working over looser ones. That's definitely weird but good!
