Help with gaming problem

Thread Starter
I just built a new gaming PC:

ASUS Crosshair IV Formula
Radeon 5870
AMD 1090T Black Edition
8GB RAM

I can run almost every game I own on Maxed out graphics, including BC2, and even Crisis runs descent enough, but Empire and Napoleon total war are not running well. I know some people that have similar builds to mine and they can run Total war games just fine. I found to run the game smoothly I have to turn most of the setting to high or lower. This is odd because online I have seen people running the same game with same graphics card at maxed out settings. Whats the problem?

check your drivers for the gpu is the first thing I could think of, but is your cpu oc'd?

You should be able to run Empire and Napoleon maxed out, I can on my rig.

Is it a retail copy of the game or did you get it from steam?

because if it is a retail copy of the game try downloading the steam demo of TW:N and run that at the max settings and see if you get the same result.

If you don't you may need to find an update for the games.

I thin there might be something wrong with my graphics card. When I turn HDR all of the environments in a in game battle disappear and leave just the units.
