I tried V-Sync on on the PC version (going down to 30fps). It feels like Crysis at 15fps. No thx. Back to 150fps.

No loading times? Excellent Wish games were this optimized for PC's. 30fps is more then enough to enjoy a game, I play Crysis at 20-25fps and have no complaints, I like seeing all the pretty.

Yea, mine runs at 350FPS on PC.... the game actually runs faster than it's supposed to as a side effect...

I'll keep VSync on, even if it doesn't lock to 60.

This review finds the Turtle Beach HPX decent compared to the PC-350, HD 595, and HD 650s. So they are not bad, just not that good. You are better off with some ATH-AD700s at that price range.

It seems a lot more families are pushing towards laptops and ditching their old desktops. Easier to have a PS3 dedicated to home entertainment than update an old PC (matches the TV a lot better too). There are also plenty of people who just want to play the game, that extra bit of eye candy isn't worth it to them. They want to get in and get out.

OT: I'm glad to hear that all versions play pretty well. I still got to play like 15 other games before I buy another (Steam deals be damned!). Liked the first one, I'll play it again on PC this time.

I agree, laptops are definitely on the rise, and have been for a long time, yet, all of the families I know with 1 or more laptops still have a desktop system. Plus, with certain integrated graphics chips low resolution gaming on a laptop is easily doable.

We already have graphics that are essentially photorealistic - problem is, that only makes for a nice screenshot. Watch the game in action, and clipping issues abound. Clothes don't flow right, armor clips into itself and your character, and anything in the game world your character interacts with inevitably doesn't fit right into his/her hand.

Graphics don't need fixing. Game physics certainly do. We're barely above the level of physics we saw in Quake. Half-Life 2 was a decent step forward, but a far cry from where we really should be given what games look like in screenshots.
Why don't you actually play Dead Space 2 and you'll see that all of that is incorrect. The game physics are amazing especially considering the fact that Dead Space 2 has kinesis which allows you to pick up and throw objects. Ontop of that there is space physics as well. Everything acts exactly how it should and there is little to no clipping in the entire game, nothing acts funky, and everything reacts exactly as it should. Even when playing for giggles with the Hand Cannon which obliterates everything and causes limbs to go shooting in every different direction - nothing acts up.

The physics to Isaac's armor is a great example. His helmet has about 30 parts that go in motion every 30 minutes or so. He takes off his helmet every time he talks to someone, and his helmet is a brilliant feat alone in my opinion. No clipping, no odd movement/jerks, it actually slides off of him as if real.

There was only 1 part I can point out where clipping or odd physics occured which goes to show that I do pay attention to these things and that I'm not babbling. Isaac gets thrown onto the ground in chapter 10 or 11 and the front of his armor sticks out because that's where his RIG readings are shown. He lays flat on the floor, which wouldn't actually be possible, and as he gets up the front tip is clipped through the floor. That's the only time I could honestly call "BS" on the physics and even that can be questionable. In motion - the game is fantastic. This is quite honestly one of the best looking games I've seen in awhile.

Go play games like Uncharted, Killzone, Halo Reach, Burnout, Need for Speed, and similar. You need to play more recent games other than something like STALKER or Fallout where sandbox messes with everything.

Thanks for this video.
Not at all. Read the article.
The only thing that changes on the PC is the resolution, AA, and - arguable - the shadows in certain scenes. The compression of the console videos in comparison to the PC feed is ridiculous in that video. It's blurry in most of the 360 and PS3 shots in motion, and I'll tell you right now it's not like that in the slightest. There is no blur when you shoot things nor is there pixelation lol.

Laptops, over the past 2 years, have been doing absolutely fantastic. It's incredible how much power can be put into these things. Not to mention - look how cheap! I'm not saying $1.5k is cheap but in comparison to how laptops used to be, it's freakin mind blowing.

My M170 Dell XPS laptop which was supposed to be top of the line at the time cost about $2.5k out of my already poor ass pocket. That came with about a 7800GTX equivalent portable chip, 2GB of RAM, and a Intel Core 2 Duo at a pretty high clock like 3ghz. That was like 2006.

Now, you can get a Core i7 Sandy Bridge with a Nvidia GTX460m chip with 8GB of RAM for $1.6k from MSI or for even just $1k - a Dell Alienware M11x which packs a massive punch power wise for the tiny little thing that it is believe it or not.

Exactly. They're not that good. There are maybe 2 or 3 Turtle Beaches that I've tried that I can call usable. The rest are just gimmicky, over priced (WAY OVERPRICED) garbage. I get more sound quality out of marshmallows for $5. My brother has one that's wireless and I can quite honestly say I've never heard worse garbage in my life. Logitech does them way better, and they're not even that good either (few exceptions there as well)

Yep no loading times on any platform. Which is ridiculous considering that all of the cutscenes in the game with the exception of maybe the initial 30 second opening vid log is all in real time. Alot of devs lately mask loading times with pre-rendered or core-rendered cutscenes.

I noticed that the Lighting is slightly different on the PS3 compared to the XBOX360, but hardly. It's subtle but you can see it on his face as the light moves. 360 has more of that overexposure compared to the ps3.

For the most part they are exactly the same though

Uhm, why is his spine "thing" glowing on the XBOX360 But not the PS3 ???
I'm sure some people caught that.

Guys! Turn off Vsync in DS2 and then turn on Vsync under nVIDIA/ATI control panel. You'll get the proper vsync frames per second this way. Game was unplayable for me with 30fps
