6950 Unlock True Voltage

Thread Starter
Is there any way to see true voltage on these cards? I turned it up to 1.3v in Afterburner. Afterburner and gpu-z are both reading it at 1.175. Or it's not actually raising it past 1.175?

It will only change to 1.3v when it ramps up to 3d mode. You're probably seeing your 2d clock voltage setting. Set the voltage, run something like Kombustor or Furmark and you will see it set the voltage appropriately.

Are you running it unlocked on a 6970 bios? If so, you won't be able to change the voltage.

If not, the current stable version of Afterburner does not support voltage control on 69xx cards. You will need 2.1.0 beta 6. If you are on that and it's not working, then update your Catalyst drivers.

I'm not running the full unlocked 6970 bios, I'm using the mod found here.
I'm also using afterburner beta 6 and also using 11.1a drivers.

This file contains all the tools required to flash your AMD Radeon HD 6950 to a HD 6970 (and back in case of problems).

So you flashed it, you aren't going to get voltage control. There is no way around this and MSI will never support it. If you put it back on 6950 bios then you lose the unlocked shaders but you get voltage control.

I have voltage control up to 1.175. I also just flashed to another 6970 bios, still the same problem though can't go above 1.175.
