TF2 Hates me :(

Thread Starter
Just got back into TF2 recently.. I can play a good half hour or more but almost always the screen freezes up and looks as posted in the attachment (the curved lines running vertical are just feedback from the TV on taking a picture, it's the triangles that concern me). There is no crash report, I can't tab out, my only option is to restart the computer.

I'm hoping it's not my GPU, it worked fine for years playing TF2 and I had been playing dragon age weeks ago just dandy. The only change I've made was upgrading to a 32" HDTV as a monitor, but even still, I would think my card could handle a slight resolution change.

Any ideas?

It could be your GPU overheating. Is the heatsink in it filled with dust?

It's the stock heatsink.. I haven't cleaned it out in a while, I suppose that would be a viable answer, what's the best program to display my temps while in-game?

Its most likely overheating, you can use evga precision to do custom fan profiles as well. And if that doesnt fix the issue, there are numerous fps configs for tf2.

Figured it out, the card was indeed overheating.
It seems when I stopped gaming a while back I turned the gpu fanspeed down to 40%, and it was never stressed until I played TF2 again. I've upped it to 65 and my temps are staying around 45 degrees, and no crashing.

Thanks all!
