Ping often isn't the only contributing factor to how well a game responds on the internet. I'm not sure what else contributes to it, but I've been in some very responsive games which are at 150-200 ping, whereas other games with 50-100 ping have been quite horrid.
Now, ping really depends on the specific game you're looking at. Some games handle delay far better than others.
As a general rule of thumb, anything over 150 is getting to be too much. For ideal and unaffected gameplay, under 100 is best.
