Both the Mamba and Imperator use the same exact Philips twin eye PLN 2032. The only difference is shape and wireless and that technically boils down to preference.

I personally wouldn't recommend either due to various sensor bugs.

Hmm, I thought Imperator didn't use the twin eye. I know the R.A.T. 7 does (had it, returned it) and it was pretty sketchy. The Imperator is spot on though. Maybe it's a MadCatz thing.

All Razer mice besides the Deathadder and Abyssus use variations of the Philips twin eye.

Well whatever they do differently from MadCatz, it works.

EDIT: The imperator sucks. No idea why anyone recommended it, it's a budget mouse for the razer line

Try out the mamba if you can, I'm a little biased since I have one, but I was in your shoes when I went shopping.

I made best buy and other places really mad because I took all the products out of boxes right there and tried them out. I told the rep's that hey, I'm not dropping $100+ on a product if I can't even see how it feels or performs...........

Who buys a car without test driving?

Anywho, long story short -- I was in your shoes, tested a bunch of products out, picked the Mamba for what it offers overall and price is in the eyes of the beholder. To me, it's worth every penny
You know, after reading your comment and then checking out a few reviews, I'm pretty intrigued. I saw the Mamba in store but never actually looked to hard at it for myself. I know for a fact the G700 is going back tomorrow as is the Imperator. I'll keep the G500 another day at least so I can do some A-B testing against the Mamba with it. Ugh, wish I didn't work until 9 (the same time Best Buy closes)

I've never had any problems out of any razer products, especially sensor bugs. Unless you call vibration on a sensitive sensor a "bug"

The Mamba is both, wire and wirelss -- I honestly feel with it off the wire you have that extra freedom and it feels more responsive.

Wireless mode is 1ms response time (that of a wired)

Cable is braided.

Anywho -- I feel that the Mamba brings to the table what any high grade mouse should.

-- Looks
-- Build quality
-- Ergonomics
-- Comfort

It's hard to find a mouse that fits all 3 categories -- I've had many different mice in my gaming time and I feel that the Mamba has it all, it's why I picked it after long searches

Picked up the Razer Mamba on my lunch hour. Got back to work and cracked it open. It feels...awesome in hand. The true test is some one-on-one Black Ops time tonight, however. The G500 may finish second...

Preference.

Sensor vs Sensor, the G500 is able to hold a malfunction rate over 4x greater than it's predecessor.
