1 kWh costs € 0,23 here in The Netherlands. Yes, we are being screwed 24/7 by our government.

Thats about what I'd pay if I left mine 24/7 folding, that includes both of my GTS450s.

Yay thanks a lot! Really owe you big time!

Without that Watt meter my dad would still think my PC takes up as much electricity as an air conditioner 24/7 lol

Turns out it barely reaches ~320W on load with a 4.8Ghz OC (Just CPU folding).

Thank you again!

This thread got me thinking about my own usage and I started to calculate my electricity bill costs and I was quite shocked.

My rig uses 450watt under load, which equals to 450/1000 = 0.45 kW
I have it running 24/7, so that means 31*24 = 744 hours per month.
That means my folding rig uses 0.45*744 = 334.8 kWh per month
1 kWh costs € 0.23, thus that means my folding rig would cost me
334.8 * 0.23 = € 77 a month.....

If my math is correct, I seriously have to rethink this whole idea...

hmm i think this is resonable maybe your dad is exageratin a bit, but when i have my pc on an ps3, pc pulls about 500-600w, and i think ps3 pulls about 350w, when i use them both all day (poeple come over or my dad uses ps3) we go through about £2-£3 a day, dont sound like much now but it adds up

I doubt you'd pay 77 Euros every month just to run your rig. I think your maths is off. Like I said before we had a water tank that cost us £9 a day. We had electric bills of over £100 month and thats with me running a 24/7 rig not to mention all the other things like fridges, oven, TV's, lights etc.

he posted the math right there, and its right. mine would be a bit less because we "only" pay avout 16c kw/h or so but still expensive if i ran folding 24/7

You're in all likelihood only a very small part of the problem. It is MUCH more likely that rates went up and your dad noticed it, and wants to trim wherever he can. I've heard tales about the awful state of German electrical generation.
Is this accurate? Because 1 unit here (kWhr) is about £0.14. Fortunately we live in a pretty temperate part of the world thanks to the gulfstream, so we don't have heaters on that much in winter and pretty much nobody has AC outside of their car.

I'm really lucky i get free electricity, might have to start some kind of orphange for abandoned folding rigs.
