I can't sleep unless my capacitors are whining and my room has an eerie blue glow.

My rig uses 450watt under load, which equals to 450/1000 = 0.45 kW
I have it running 24/7, so that means 31*24 = 744 hours per month.
That means my folding rig uses 0.45*744 = 334.8 kWh per month
1 kWh costs € 0.23, thus that means my folding rig would cost me
334.8 * 0.23 = € 77 a month.....

If my math is correct, I seriously have to rethink this whole idea...
1 Watt = 1 J/s;
450W = 450J consumed every second;
Seconds in a day = 60*60*24 = 86400s
450J every second for 86400s = 38,880,000J
38880000J = 10.8 kWh
Cost per day to run rig 24h = 0.23*10.8 = 2.484

Cost to run per month = 2.484*31 = €77.004

Your math is indeed correct. It is simply because energy costs are much higher for you in the Netherlands than it is for most of us in NA is why you pay more. We pay around a third of what you pay so my bill would probably be around $26 monthly if I were to run your rig 24/7.

Thanks for the confirmation.

Well, that's not going to happen. I can't afford to pay an extra € 77 every month for an(other) addiction wink.gif
I'm just a student. I live in a dorm were I have to pay for my own electricity. The problem is not the price per kWh, which is just € 0.08, but those damn taxes make it a total of € 0.23. Seriously, this government...

I should've done my homework better before buying those two GTX 460s for folding, aarggh.

However, I will continue to fold on my i7. Without those two GTX460s, the power consumption has been reduced to ~200 Watts, which will cost me around € 34. That's still quite some extra cash every month, but it's way better than 77 euros a month extra.

$39 for your rig?
What are your rates cause that seems a bit high, I pay less with 2 rigs running 24/7.
