Forced to upgrade...

Hello fellow OCNers! Haven't posted in a little while, but I'm in dire need of advice all over again. My current board(780i) is having quite a bit of issues, I've formatted clean, tried different drivers, went back to full stock, did a CMOS clear, you name it.

Final verdict, I'd probably have to RMA the board. Sadly, I can't go without a working PC as I have to be available on call to log remotely and fix things at work, therefore RMAing my board would be an issue. I wanted to hold off my next upgrade until Bulldozer/Ivy Bridge are out and decide which route to go, but I simply cannot take the issues of this board anymore... I even had two 780i's with different issues, I guess I got unlucky.

So obviously I'd be heading for a 2600k build, that much is clear for me, who knows, the performance might satisfy me enough that I won't jump over to BD/Ivy, too. Here is what I was looking at:

CPU: http://ncix.com/products/?sku=57960&...ufacture=Intel
Mobo: http://ncix.com/products/index.php?s...nufacture=eVGA
RAM: http://ncix.com/products/index.php?s...acture=G.Skill

I know filling my ram slots makes it harder to OC, but I can't justify not getting 8GB of ram at that price, especially that I do a lot of VMWaring, and it's only filling two slots, which shouldn't make it all that complicated. I wanted to use the corsair vengeance instead, but for the additionnal cost, these looked much better. Am I wrong?

Also, please only use canadian resellers, as I reside there, for prices.

Thanks!

EDIT: SLI is also important, as I currently make use of it... Though I might try to sell off my GTX 285's eventually so a board that supports both SLI and Crossfire would be cool too.

EDIT#2: Anybody knows if the venomous X came with 1156 compatible brackets? I forgot if it was in the box and it's god knows where. I'm supposing they use the same brackets as 1156 for 1155 right?

These really are all solid choices.

Nah. You picked out good high-quality RAM with great timings.

I missed the question here, lol. I read your post a couple times. What are you asking for?

Oh I was just asking if anyone were to have better prices/suggestions, to only use newegg.ca, ncix.com, tigerdirect.ca, etc. Canadian websites.

As for the Ven-X, did it come WITH the brackets? I'd have to dig them up if they did, hehe.

Thanks.

I'm actually having second thoughts on the board. I used to like EVGA for lifetime warranty and nice support, they're still pretty good(though this one has a 3 years warranty, then again by 3 years I'll probably have changed so...)

What I want is a good overclocking board, I can't say I've really looked up much on 1155 since it came out board-wise, but what would you guys shoot for, board-wise? I've never been to any other company than XFX or EVGA, so not too sure what to shoot for.

Why not just get a cheap Gigabyte LGA 775 motherboard used? I have the 780i board as well btw.

Just tired of the socket in general. I bought a 780i for my brother's rig and he's also having issues with them. I heard from everyone on here that they are great boards, but for some reason all the ones I got had an issue, it's just time for a change of scenery, you know.
