No, they wouldn't have due to requiring DDR2 compatibility, also, Socket 940 is the server version of Socket 939.

And I could use a 890FX with a 939 system if I wanted to, or even an nForce4 with my Phenom II (Granted, it'd run slower then) if there was a AM2+ or AM3 board with one, in fact, other than the RAM used, 939 is exactly the same as AM2 and AM2+ is exactly the same as AM3. (iirc)

Athlon XP maxed out at around 70-80w if I recall correctly.

That Phenom II is 45nm, the SB is 32nm, we'll probably see similar power figures with Bulldozer if its 32nm.

DMI was the way of connecting the Northbridge to the Southbridge in previous Intel chipsets, Intel practically moved the northbridge onto the CPU, hence QPI isn't really needed. (Or wasn't, with SATA3, USB3 and Lightpeak, I think it is now)

Can I use my HDD and SSD on the Intel PCH 6Gbps SATA controller and the DVD-RW on the Marvell 6Gbps?

I know the Marvell controller is slower, but the DVD-RW is kind of insignificant since I am barely using CD's, most of my games are used by Steam. If I will insert a game CD and play using the Marvell, will I experienced slow downs due to the slower controller?

You might want to check your mobo manual, I know that my asus p8p67 lists the marvell controller ports as hdd/ data drive only as it doesnt support ATAPI devices...strange yea...anyone got an explanation on that one?

Only if the game is playing off CD, most don't.

Aren't most retail games doing that? or is it only used for DRM purposes rather than reading off the CD.

I can't because i'm a Nehalem/Gulftown guy. I would if i could.
That would be a good thing.

I've been amused for 39 pages, not by anything to do with the subject of this thread, but by the dozens of repeat questions from people who apparently won't read a few pages because this thread's so long. The funny part is that if people would read a few pages first, it could eliminate repeat questions, and then the thread could be be under 10 pages.

Good shout DenyDog - 39 pages is a bit much. That is not to say there is not some good material on here though.

Nah, SB is perfectly fine. Just a 6 series chipset problem that will be replaced.

Till March, use SATA6 and you'll never even know there was a problem to begin with.

Try to remember this is only a 5% chance over 3 years on SATA3 anyways. Has nothing to do with any performance issues on SB.
