It's not neccesary, just use the 6 GBp's SATA ports and you will be okay until a replecament mobo is sent.

I wish people would read some of the previous 410 posts. . . However because I am a nice person I will answer.

The i5-2500K does NOT have an issue.

Most likely your board wont have an issue either. However, there is a chance (5%-15%) that you will experience an issue with your SATA2 ports over years of time. The board manufactures will most likely issue a recall so the boards will be replaced for free.

Quick question:

Both Intel's SATA 6Gbps and Marvell's SATA 6Gbps ports are safe to use, correct?

Or only the Marvell ones?

Both are entirely fine according to the information we have at present.

But Intel hasnt integrated Sata 6GB/s support into their P67's. They're still using an off-chip marvell controller that connects to the PCI-E bus.

The P67 has two SATA 6Gb/s ports integrated.
Once again...

Just don't forget!

Resell values on the boards gonna suck. I mean... even a year from now and a guy says they have the new board without the bug I wouldn't touch it. Or says they have used the ports and have not had issues, I wouldn't touch it.

However if they have some sort of stamp on the board itself as proof, then maybe I'd consider it.
