I'm going to keep chiming in every so often to let people know that not all reference cards die. Just keep them super cool, like mine, and they should be fine. I think if mine was going to die, it would have already.

I guess I got a good one too. If anything happens though its under warranty and I'll upgrade long before the warranty expires, so, yeah, EVGA is great.

I like posts like this. My card has run flawlessly every time i use it. I've abused the hell out of it two. Either using water or DICE, it's always run at 1.213v and scales pretty damn well with either methods of cooling. I run the card over 1100/2400 for benching and if that doesn't draw a lot of current, I don't know what does.

I hear ya smile.gif Mine has been through some intensive 5hr+ folding sessions at 950MHz and 1.1v, the only mod I did was to place a fan inside of the case blowing directly onto the VRM's

I dont think all ref 570's came with a VRM timebomb smile.gif

Definately not. Been running cool at 920/1840/2200 and I couldn't be happier with it.

I'm wondering if there is a different vrm cooler that you could get to replace the vr004. It is very dangerous to use and defeat the purpose to get gpu cooler. Zalman VF3000F has what a looks like a more reliable vrm cooling as it is an entire unit instead of separated pieces. This allows a wider area of heat dissipation and therefore in theory, it should eliminate the overheating problem of the other compounds on the board. However I've yet to see a vrm cooling plate sold separately without the gpu cooler itself and it is a question whether it would fit with AC Xtreme cooler. So any comments guys?

I fried one 2 or 3 weeks ago, I think because I used my old card's 2x molex things instead of EVGA's supplied ones cuz I was to much in a hurry to check everything. Was also pushing the clocks around and changing the voltages too frequently. It ran games fine, even Crysis 2 with the clock on 900... then after running OC scanner for a minute on 900, I got like 2 artifacts so I stopped it and dropped the gpu back to like 850, ran it again, PC shuts down. After a few more immediate shutdowns I look over and see smoke pluming out of the top fan lol. I can still smell it, burning to death :[ Got a replacement tho ^__^

as long as u dont mess w/ voltage and keep the fan on auto w/ the gpu at 800, arent u safe? Im gonna keep it at 800 until I relly need the juice, like for Doom 4 or something

yep, returned to microcenter and got a new one, not overclocking these cards anymore. Was thinking of picking up a 6970 earlier today for a box I'm putting together right now. Asus P8P67 Deluxe, i5 2500k, Corsair H70, Thermaltake Armor A60, Kaze Master Pro 4 channel, 4x Kaze Yjuni, 4x4GB G.Skill Sniper 1.25v DDR31600, 2x OCZ Vertex 3 120GB, PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750, Zotac GTX 570.

I decided I would rather wait for the next round of cards to be released, maybe pick up another Zotac GTX 570. Two in the 2600k and two in the 2500k seems like a fair match up. 2600k is at 4.7 on air. I'm hoping I can hit 5ghz under 80Cº without the temp increases of Hyperthreading.
