How are they claiming that? Did you do something outright? Like leave an aftermarket cooler on it? Or did you tell them you OC it?

This thread probably saved me from uncomfortable arguing with my hardware supplier. Was going to get the MSI 570 TF ii, now I'm going for the TFiii PE!

Great thread

Nothing, I just opened it to see what happened and trade it to a aftermarket but the mosfet gone.
Then I sent the card with the original cooler and heatsink.

I bought a refurbished one of these from newegg with a REALLY great price.

I'm coming from owning three ATI/AMD cards, this is my first Nvidia, how well can this card overclock and when should I stop? What voltage is the danger zone, and what voltage is generally safe?

EDIT: BTW, this card I bought comes with a 90 DAY WARRANTY. This means I do NOTTTTT want ANY chance of blowing it up... but I do want to get more performance out of what I paid for.

If you're going to test the limits, do so ASAP, with no question about the 90 days being up.

That being said, most people get >800mhz, closer to 900 in general. And 1.1v is generally considered the safe limit as long as you watch your temps.

I don't know if there was a tamper evident sticker or something, but they should have warrantied the card. You should call back and complain and plead your case.

All of these are cards with reference PCB's and thus the same 4+2 power phase design, but some have non-reference cooling such as the Twin Frozrs.

Reference is 4+1 VRMs, I trust.

Lol, they dont have the the throttling thing on the 480/70.

They cheaped out on the card. Throw in some throttling features. And say the card is more efficient. LOL

I've got a Gainward GTX 570 "Phantom" for about a year and no problems. I was wondering to OC it but it seems not so good reading this thread. I know my card has 6 Phases like the 580 but i don't feel comfortable anyway. :|
