bass my man you should do some recommendation settings on the front page to alert people going over 1.1V and disable power limit can make your gtx 570 turn into a small C4

Well I just flashed my BIOS the other day so I have up to 1.2v at my disposal, but I was able to reach a stable 950 core on 1.15v. Just to be on the safe side I toned my mem clocks down to 2k. My temps have been decent as well, rarely going over 75c and I have my AXP sitting on my desk, just waiting for the mounting bracket to arrive from Hong Kong. I definitely appreciate this thread though as I was toying with the idea of turning off OCP until I read all this :O

No problem at all with my 570's. I would never turn off power limiting or go over 1.06v. There was a review done a few days after it was released that gave this information. I do not seem to be able to locate this at the moment.

I never turn off power limiting on any electronics that you do not want to destroy. It was put in place for a reason.

so its all just vrm's that died? lets get on to fixing them!!!
anyone near me with an out of warranty card can send it over for repair.
i will just need to find the vrm's needed unless some with dead motherboards with the same vrm's are willing to give them up in the name of fermi repair

this looks like fun.

How hard would it be to repair for someone with no soldering experience? I'm gonna try and practice on my old 9600GT...

Lol you are still at a huge risk with that voltage mind you! Even with OCP enabled.

Yeah I havent actually had the guts to use anywhere near the full 1.2v and this card game with a pretty good VID so I think I may back down a little just to be safe.

The cards are dying mainly because people are removing power limitations to their card. Keep it below 1.1v and you'll be fine.

It's possible, but not probable. Most of the people have fried their cards because of unlocking the OCP or going above 1.1v
