Sorry you feel that way... But the fact of the matter is this thread was started by a very reputable member here, as well as a few other overclocking forums, and HWBot, so as far as I am concerned, when a guy like xxbass starts a thread here, or anywhere else I take it seriously.

While I do agree that there probably are a few people around posting bs with bs specs, its not even close to a fair representation of OC.net

So sorry you have had a bad experience elsewhere and feel this is the same bs sit, but its not... if your looking for overclocking advice and do a google search you will see this is one of the most popular sites on the www

I think some of you are overreacting a bit. How many people have posted in this thread saying their GTX 570 got fried ? 10 maybe. How many people, just on OCN, own a GTX 570 ? Hundreds ! And almost everyone posting in here had safeties turned off. So I dont really think this is a major problem. Some people got bad cards, which you can never really avoid with any card, always some bad chips, and some people had it coming, turning off the safeties, and in that case you cant really blame the card for being bad. So stop acting like every GTX 570 is gonna blow up eventually. This is not a "omg GTX 570 is teh suckszor"-thread, its a warning to people, to be carefull when overclocking these cards and not to use insane voltages while turning off safeties unless you know what youre doing.

And also, after seing the Asus GTX 580 DCII 1.5 GHZ OC, I want the GTX 570 version !

we should find a way to add the 5th phase from the 580 design.
It'll be more trouble than it is worth.

You need MOSFET driver chips, the MOSFETs, chokes, SMD caps, a place to get the aforementioned items in non-bulk quantities, some crazy soldering skill (or a really expensive soldering machine), and a BIOS flash.

Oh, and it'll void your warranty.

The 570 runs perfectly on the GTX 580 BIOS! As for the rest, it's all doable.

The only difficult part is the soldering... which I wouldn't be able to do. That's why PizzaMan has my card!

not just that... u need to change your digital or analogu pwm controller,
what if the pwm controller doesn't offer the extra channel you seek?

u got to replace that too, and i donno about gtx570's board space if you can fit it or not.

and surface mount is a *****........ yea and warranty is 3 to lifetime XD, why waste it ^_^?

we should ignore this one, sounds like total bs. Probably a troll could be wrong, but those specs seems like
a) extreme outlier
b) Totaly bs
c) Mafia 2 seriously?

The GTX 580 and 570 share almost everything in common. The circuit board itself is the exact same, with spacing for the missing components.

I would agree that it is not a design defect of huge proportions but you didn't see these issues with GF100 and it has been a consistent statistical failure that can, and should be addressed.
