Have you killed a 570? (No recent deaths, buy some 570s!) - Page 24

That card had to be faulty to begin with sorry. This thread is getting attention at anandtech so expect people to make accounts and post crap. Pics should be required. I mean this is about vrm's frying not faulty cards. People were already proven to be lying anyways and more are to come. I bet half of the cards posted here are BS. No proof should = didn't happen on a thread like this.

hello guys, I just got my GTX570 the other day and i want to start benching.

After reading through this thread it seems that 1.1v and Power Limiter ON is safe for benching? is this true? i would really hate if this thing were to die.

Also, does this Power limiter have anything to do with OCCT? is that program even safe for stability testing?

It should be fine but you never know. Every card is different so just because one persons' can handle 1.1v yours may not. I would advise against disabling the power limiter. As for OCCT, whenever you run it the power limiter will kick in unless you disable it (then you risk killing your card) so just run some Crysis/Warhead or Metro 2033 or something instead

Yes that is safe. If it dies at those settings it was faulty to begin with.

The only way to be sure is not to touch the voltage at all. Power limiter is turned off in gpu-z i think.

This is quite a compelling mystery. Maybe the problem is with the overcurrent protection limit software, i.e. even when the software limit is enabled, it is not functioning properly.

weird problem.

It will do 900 with 1.075v, but even adding 1.1v and it will grey-screen. Windows reports a blue screen.

Sounds like VRMs or something else. My GTX 470 would limit at around 870Mhz and would not go higher no matter how much more voltage I gave.
