Have you killed a 570? (No recent deaths, buy some 570s!) - Page 39

Cool guys. From the moment I saw this topic I started pushing my 570 REALLY hard. I have a lifetime warranty so I can keep returning these to EVGA all day long untill they decide to ***** at Nvidia for shotty designs.

Unfortunately.... anything above 911 core greyscreens regardless of voltage. Break faster dammit!!!!

It's actually nice to know that when the next revision 570 gtx comes out I can just furmark this one all day long and it will PROBABLY burn the vrm's, oh what's that yeah it just died out of nowhere i dont know what happened could I get the new revision one by any chance? kthx <3 evga

Just kidding. In all seriousness if this does become a widespread issue which I suspect might happen, from a financial standpoint it would be more profitable for vendors to include 5 or more phases in a second revision PCB than to do warranty replacements over and over. I can't believe a couple of dudes even had theirs die at stock volts/clocks though, I don't know what to make of that.

The stock failures may just be the expected normal failure rate.

As for overclocking, alternately they could find a way to restrict the voltage and clock speeds, prevent users from going overboard with overclocks.

This thread should have a poll. Of all the 570s owners on OCN, how many have died.
I have been seeing alot of people claiming that " MOST, ALOT, TONS, etc " of 570s are dying, Not to buy one , etc..
I dont believe the margin is that high honestly.

That's just people being stupid. If they cannot see that, let them live in their fear tainted world lol

Many times I've had a card that could stably run Furmark/Kombuster for over 2 hours yet still was unstable in actual games, you run games on your GPU, no? So test games on it.

Prime95 gives your CPU a realistic load, Furmark doesn't...

The fact is, there is no game or CUDA app that will ever load a GPU as much as Furmark...Why? Well, no game will load every single ROP, every single shader, etc to the point where the amperes are as massive as what Furmark takes...It's very inefficient and that's why it sucks as a stability test.

The cards shouldn't be cheaped out like the 570 is but to say it's like Prime95 isn't smart.

With that said though, Nvidia should not have skimped so much on the VRM on these things.
It pumps heaps of amps into the GPU and VRM, it doesn't stress them very hard or you'd find any instability in it rather than having Furmark seem very stable but say, GTA 4 artifact like crazy.

Killed 2x PNY XLR8 GTX570. Yay for retail stores!

Core Voltage: 1.05V
Clocks: 825/2200
OCP/Power limit disabled: (Y/N) N
Load Temperature: ~85
VRM Cooling: Stock
What you were doing: Furmark, boom after 20 seconds. Rebooted to Windows fine, would power off system when trying to launch 3D game.

Upgraded to EVGA GTX580 SC. 1.15V, 875 core, 2330 mem. Been rock stable 24 hours Furmark.

Definitely the VRMs too weaksauce on GTX570.

Why? Furmark doesn't work as a stress test and isn't a good benchmark either.
